James McKeon — HomeownersWebsites.com

James has been working in technology for over 15 years—on the web for over a decade. In the corporate world, he went from a computer trainer, to training writer, to Manager of a large internal training site. He managed a group of over two hundred content contributors on a web portal that served 40,000 employees world-wide. In short, he learned a thing or two about keeping a large, interconnected system of information sharing humming along. In late 2004, after putting down roots with his wife and young children in sunny Colorado, he decided that working close to home for smaller clients was going to be the next phase of his career. So he started a web consultancy that focused on building web strategies and websites for small companies and start-ups. Through his company, eonupdate web strategy, James is able to give his clients the business tools that were once only available to big biz.

After a few years in his community, James was elected to the Board of Directors of his Homeowner's Association—one that already had and still maintains a gorgeous website built and managed by a capable volunteer, and a board that is dedicated to using the web to communicate with the homeowners. Arapahoe Lake is lucky. Not every community has a gifted web developer volunteer to make and maintain a website.

His experience on the HOA board, combined with a serendipitous referral to make and manage sites for two other HOAs, led James to discover that HOAs have web communications needs that are consistent across the board. HOA websites can share a common utility, yet serve the particular needs of any community. Each community has a distinct character, look and feel. So too can every HOA website. Almost every HOA or Community Association website will have this requirement: an attractive and affordable website that is expertly managed. So he contacted his constant web partner, Phases Design Studio, and they hatched HomeownersWebsites.com, setting out to do just that—make attractive and affordable websites for communities big and small.
